What do I want? What am I feeling?

Getting away offers a chance to pause and listen.

We live in an age of perpetual connectivity — emails, notifications, social media updates — all of which crowd our minds and leave little room for introspection.

As a result, we become strangers to ourselves, lost in the constant noise.

This is why, now and then, we need to get away. Stepping outside our daily routines and familiar environments offers the chance to reconnect with who we are and what truly matters.

As the French philosopher Blaise Pascal once wrote, “All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone.”

Pascal knew something about the human condition that still holds true today: the modern world rarely allows us to be alone with our thoughts.

Escaping from this noise — whether it’s through travel, a quiet retreat, or even a weekend spent in nature — gives us the space to confront ourselves in ways that routine rarely allows.

When discussing “getting away,” it’s easy to imagine exotic vacations, trips to faraway places, or even spiritual retreats in remote locations.
