Are You Part of the 57%?

We are in February, and if you’re like most people, your New Year’s resolutions are already starting to fall by the wayside. Statistics show that about 43% of people abandon their New Year’s goals by the end of January.

That means only around 57% of resolvers actively work towards their goals. So the question is, are you part of this 57% who is powering through? Or have you let your resolutions slide?

Sticking to resolutions takes a lot of work. Hard. Life gets in the way. Motivation fades. Old habits creep back in. There are a million reasons why New Year’s resolutions get discarded in the first couple of months. But that doesn’t mean you must be part of the 43%.

If your resolutions are important to you, there is still time to recommit. Reflect on why you made those goals in the first place.

What do you want to change in your health, relationships, or personal growth? How will you feel if you give up versus if you keep striving?

Reconnect with your motivation and remind yourself that lasting change takes time. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Accept that there will be ups and downs, but you can get back on track.

Also, make sure your resolutions are concrete and achievable. Vague goals like “lose weight” or “save money” are hard to measure. Break them down into specific, trackable actions like “lose 1 kg per week” or “put $10 per paycheck into savings.” Tracking progress is key.

Don’t be part of the 43% who ditch their goals. Be part of the persistent 57% who stick it out. Stay focused on the future you’re working towards. Enlist friends to support you. And prove that you can make meaningful, lasting changes in your life.
